A warm hello from Oribel

Hello Friends,

Thank you for visiting my blog. If you are looking for inspiration and empowerment you’ve come to the right place.

Apart from articles I've written based on my own personal experiences I have included suggested affirmations, intentions, prayers, visualizations, meditations, ideologies and a whole lot more. I have personally benefited from them - I gained more self-confidence, learned about self-love, self-acceptance and self-respect, overcoming fears created by years of conditionings, tackled self-doubt, self-worth and self-esteem issues. And I’m learning to trust myself more and more each day.

I invite you to open heart and empty your mind and pick any subject that you are drawn to. Take only the information that resonates with you and leave the rest behind as they are here for others. You see, each of us have different lessons to learn in this life. Much of which is to overcome different types of fears - fear of being lonely, fear of rejection, fear of failure, well you're getting the picture. And, hence, we need different tools in our lives as we seek to discover ourselves and to turn our challenges into life lessons. With self-knowledge comes true power.

And always know that you have much to give the world by just being you....the authentic you that is. And also remember that when you reach a higher truth be prepared to let go of older ones that no longer serve you. That's how we evolve and expand.

Happy journeys,
Oribel

Inner Child

Regardless of our age, there's an inner child that resides in each of us. It allows us to be child like again. Mind you it's not about being childish. Child like is about looking at things with awe and innocence and without judgment. And it's about allowing yourself to appreciate the simple things in life.

Because of our many responsibilities as adults we forget to nurture the 'child within' and indulge in self-care and self-love that brings us joy and allows us to indulge in spontaniety.

What Is Love?

Love is patient,
love is kind.

It does not envy,
it does not boast,
it is not proud,
it is not rude,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects,
always trust,
always hopes,
always perseveres.

Love never fails......

– Corinthians 13:4-8

We are not here on earth to love or be loved. We are here to BE love.

Helping Planet Earth

The state of planet earth and its environment is a reflection of humanity at large. We have collectively as a group taken the best out of her – oil, forestry, natural gas and wildlife. And we too have put in the worst into her – water pollution, air pollution and toxic waste into her soil.
How do we stop this cycle of misuse and abuse? From a recent channeled message from Masters of the Spirit World they commented that it is impossible to change other people’s beliefs unless they are ready, willing, and able to oblige. The path to lead others to change their ways comes through education and energy transference.

The type of education needed here is the soft-sell variety. The U.S. forest service had the right approach with Smokey the Bear: “Only you can prevent forest fires.” The hard-sell “your arm for defiling the forests, your leg for polluting the waters” just will not work.

People respond to facts and figures. Just how polluted are your waters? What deformities has pollution caused in fish and frogs? When will the natural gas from a certain field be depleted? How much wildlife was destroyed by the last oil spill? How has the air pollution in major cities increased chronic lung conditions? What new, cleaner sources are there for cars, factories, reusable containers, and daily activities? All these appeals have to be to the conscious mind.

What about the unconscious? Bombard the universe with healing energy. Form healing groups and meditation circles putting the intentions for conservation, healing, and recycling into the ozone. Those people who are open to the feelings around them will sense a shifting and may even receive the message clearly. For all those who only care about themselves, the energy will soothe hot spots on the planet and potentially prevent further Earth-crust shifting and eruptions.

Well I want to do something to save planet earth. As I do not have the facts and figures I will appeal to humanity’s unconscious minds. So I’ll go with the latter suggestion of sending love, light and healing energy to planet earth and ask that its people become more aware of the impact they have on their environment. And I know that there will be a shift, no matter how slight it is still a shift towards creating the New Energy Earth.

If you know of any healing groups or meditation circles you too could help Earth by spreading this message. Thank you.

So make someone smile today. Make their day and make it your day too. (Smile)

See Only Love and Light

To treat people well is to honor their souls.
To honor their souls is to understand
what it means to love your neighbor.
At a soul level, we are all equal and we come from the same Source. See only love and light in yourself and in others. This will help you not to judge others and know that they too are on a spiritual path.
And when you allow others the space to experience what they have created for themselves, they too will treat you with the same respect.

Meditation

Anyone can meditate. And you don’t have to look at it as a spiritual activity. Look at it as a time to calm your mind and relax and shut out the external world from your consciousness for a while. So, the best way to approach meditation is with ease and treat it as a joyous escape, if you will.

Do not be concerned with the rules and guidelines that most meditation practitioners dictate as the “right approach”. That you meditate is more important than how you meditate. Closing your eyes and breathing deeply is one technique, as sitting in front of an altar is another or relaxing outdoors in company of nature is yet another.

Again, like I said, we all come from different backgrounds and different environments. So choose a technique that allows you to be alone without being disturbed for 10-15 minutes. And in this stillness, you are connected to your inner being or “heavenly home” as the angels call it. It’s like hooking up to a fuel station, where you’re filled with energy, ideas and tranquillity.

The words meditate and medicate share the same root for good reason, since they’re both approaches to health. Meditation is your free and portable healing agent whose only side effects are peace of mind and rejuvenation. When you practice this ritual daily, very soon you’ll enjoy your tranquil moments in the spirit of feeding your needs and desires.

And if you are the restless type and can't quite keep still, then take up Tai chi, yoga and other active forms of meditation. This is good for your body and soul. These forms of exercise calm the body and mind to help new ideas flow freely. In this way the body and soul come into balance.

And for those who meditate as a spiritual practice, here are several suggestions on what you might say and do during the practice:

“I ask for the purest and brightest light and energy to be sent to me.” And in your mind’s eye see it entering your crown chakra. And color plays an important role. So see the energy as a bright golden white light. Or any other color you perceive as purest energy.

“I am connecting with my Higher Self. Tell me what I need to know. I’m sitting here and I’m ready.”

“Dear Spirit, place in me what I need.”

“Dear Spirit, give me wisdom to create what I need. Give me the peace that it has been accomplished and I’ll just sit here and I’ll be loved.”

When I ask for something, I always feel the love emanating within my heart center. And I feel this love growing bigger until it fills my entire body and flows out of my body. Visualization makes your connection with Spirit even more powerful. And listen to the messages that come to you either during or after meditation. Most messages may come to you in thought forms or a knowing.

I get many messages and solutions when I practice relaxing outdoors in nature. I ask the nature spirits to surround me and I ask for inspiration for my healing and creative work.

And when I am at home, I have a space in my bedroom that I dedicate for my meditation. Each day I take a few minutes to sit in this space and meditate by imagining myself wrapped in a cocoon of warm healing light. And I find that the calm I gain by being in this place becomes indispensable to me.

Here’s an intention for meditation and you could say this right before you meditate:

I meditate in whatever way feels most
comfortable and natural. I am mentally at ease
and fully connected to Spirit (my Inner Self)
I allow myself the freedom to quiet my mind and listen.

Experiment with this. And remember to have an open heart and an open mind so you can hear better the messages that come to you.

And more importantly, please take action on the guidance that you receive during or after meditation. You'll be amazed and surprised by the results.

Partnership with God

If God is everywhere, then God is within each one of us. That means we have access to God 24/7. Isn’t that something. I like that thought.

And, better yet, we each have an entourage of guides and angels. So you see, we are never alone. And that is why I don’t feel alone, lonely or depressed. I make God and my angels my best friends. And my ‘forever friend’ is myself. What I mean by myself is my Spirit, my Higher Self, my soul and my conscious mind.

When you are in partnership with God and your guides/angels 24/7, many wonderful things can happen. You can begin to rediscover your divine self and you see yourself as an multi-dimensional human being.

You will understand that your purpose on this earth plane is to help bring peace back to planet Earth. Just by self-discovery of your divinity you can help bring peace back to Earth. How is that possible? you may ask. Well this is how it works.

When a person is evolving spiritually, he will look within for answers to all the problems and unhappiness he is experiencing. He will begin to look at his belief systems, values, relationships, time spent, career, basically his whole life. And he will soon realize that the key to peace of mind and happiness is love. And all negative emotions are fear based. And he will begin to connect with every life form with respect, kindness and love. It is love that helps bring peace back to earth. In other words, he will begin to live more consciously and in alignment with his new belief systems and values. With love, you will begin to tolerate, understand and accept others regardless of race, language or religion they embrace.

And others will see him and wonder how he is so peaceful. And they too will want to follow his path by awakening to their own divinity. Some will awaken and some won’t. We each have free choice.

So what is your choice?

Prayer to Four Archangels

For a period of time, right after I left my corporate job, I often felt anxious and I worried about my future. And this was creating sleepless nights for myself. At that time, I was already communicating with my angels and felt very close to them. I wanted to ask for their assistance to help me with my sleeping problems.

I know that I needed to give my worries and concerns to my angels and that I wanted some nurturing, guidance and solace whilst I slumber. And in a book of prayers I found this wonderful bedtime prayer and it was absolutely perfect for what I needed at that time. It is called the Bedtime Prayer to the Four Archangels:

May Gabriel be at my right side, to guide my hand and my words.

May Raphael be at my left side, to heal me and help me bring healing to others.

May Auriel be behind me, so that I may rest in her soft and tender care.

May Michael be in front of me, as a shield for my heart and to lead me forward.

And above my head may the Shekinah, the Divine Presence, bring me close to Heaven as I sleep.

I said this prayer every night after I give my worries and concerns to God and my angels. And without fail I sleep better. And as the days rolled by, I became more and more confident as I create my reality and my future.

You see, Angels and Archangels are just waiting eagerly for you to ask them for help and they love helping humanity. Because we are given free will, the angels and archangels can only begin assisting us upon our request.

The Golden Path Meditation

If you're feeling abit lost and confused lately, perhaps you're not sure which direction to take. The Angel of Guidance is here to guide you upon your soul's chosen path.

Stepping into Your Power

What is true power?

True power is simply to stand in your own truth and to take full responsibility. You no longer blame others or feel victimized.

True power is also to love and accept all your seeming imperfections and to work with what you have to the best of your ability at any given moment.

True power is to have the courage to just be who you are regardless of what others may think.

True power is to have the courage to speak your truth without judgment or fear of being judged.

Affirmation - Follow Your Passion

Say this affirmation several times a day, in the beginning. And then say it once a day in the second week.

I follow my passion.
I honor it and live it.
I don’t worry about how it will look to others or whether or not anyone at all will approve.
When it comes to the end of my days,
I will be able to say with all sincerity and without reservation that I lived my life passionately and in truth.

People ask me when is a good time to say affirmations. My response is "at the start of the day" and if you meditate, do it during meditation. Always say your affirmation in earnest and own each word and believe each word you are saying.

This is how you tell the Universe of your intentiions and your body hears what you're saying. Your body follows your energy. Your words create energy. Positive words create positive energy.

To give your affirmation more power, follow up with a visualization. Picture yourself in your mind's eye you doing what you are passionate about. The more detailed the better.

Have FUN while you're doing this! And SMILE during the affirmation and visualization.

Affirmation - Self Worth

There is an angel for every situation and issue that we face.
The Angel of Self Worth reflects upon you all the beauty, love and light that you are and to help you regain your sense of self worth. Feel her healing light penetrate your aura this very moment and affirm to the following yourself.

I am a being of light and love.
I love and value the many wonderful qualities I possess.
From this moment forward
I will honor and value myself,
all I am and do,
In the knowledge that I am part of God’s creation.
I am worthy of love.

Repeat this affirmation several times each day either out loud or in the silence of your heart. Reflect upon each word and truly believe and own each one. Express each word with all your heart and soul. As you begin to value yourself you will find that others start to value you also.

God's Simple Solution to Change Your Life

God:
What you are doing wrong is very simple. You think you're all alone. You think you're separate from everyone else, and I'll give you a simple solution in three sentences that will change your life.

Neale:
Great. What is it?

God:
1) You're one with everyone. There's no one who is separate from you.
2) What you do for another, you do for yourself.
3) What you fail to do for another, you fail to do for yourself.

It's as simple as that. I hate to be simplistic, but that's the truth. But it will change your life if you choose to not just hear that thought and conceptualize it, but actually live it.

Except from the novel, "Conversations With God".

How to Get What You Really Want

The only way to get what you really want,
is to know what you really want.
And the only way to know what you really want
is to know yourself
And the only way to know yourself,
is to be yourself.
And the only way to be yourself,
is to listen to your heart.

Intention - To start the day right

I noticed that I'm upbeat throughout the day whenever I say this intention as soon as I wake up in the morning. This intention is made up of words of gratitude. What better way to start the day than giving thanks to the Universe.

Intentions must be verbalize/spoken, but can be said softly, so you won't wake your partner up if he or she is still asleep.

Oh, I love this planet.
I am happy to be here, happy to be the age I am,
living where I am living and doing what I am doing.
I am loving my life.
I celebrate this day no matter what it brings.
Try this. And observe for yourself your attitude towards yourself and others changing for the better. This is how we find inner peace and be in harmony with people and situations we come in contact with each day of our lives.

The Law of Abundance

I believe that what you focus on you create in your life. So I choose to focus on only the positive to remain happy and uplifted.

Regardless of the circumstances I am in I know that I am always guided, guarded and protected by my guardian angels and the Universe. I start out each day by setting an intention to celebrate this day no matter what it brings. I continue to pray and meditate daily. And in my meditation, I send love, light and empowerment to everyone on this planet. And I know that in return I receive the same gifts from each one of them.

I practice gratitude each night before going to bed. I thank the Universe for 5 wonderful things that I experience each day. And I frequently find more. It is amazing that when you really look for the good stuff, you easily find them.

And I will avoid any conversation that focuses on doom and gloom and encourage others to do the same. And upon hearing anything negative, I tell myself, “This too shall pass.” And it always does.

Marriage and Weddings

I attended a very good friend's wedding dinner several months back. You might say that it was an unconventional wedding dinner. The wedding couple had a short ceremony to take their wedding vows right before their guests were seated for dinner. And the bride wore red and then black...both very elegant gowns. And the highlight of the evening was the speeches made by each the bride and groom. There was no MC. The bride and groom thanked and acknowledged each of their friends and relatives, by name, for their presence.

In his speech, the groom, who is my friend, had the courage to reveal that he wanted to do the right thing and that he was taking a risk by going into matrimony. And it was a risk worth taking. And the bride’s aunt from New York who was seated in one of the main tables, stood up and asked that my friend, the new groom, treats her niece, the new bride, well or else…
On a lighter note, in the course of the dinner, both the bride and groom held a quiz to test the guests’ memory on who is who present and they had little gifts for the winners. I thought that was fun and there was laughter all round. And we played with sparklers, which to me was another highlight of the evening. The dinner ended with several of the guests visiting the bridal suite at the hotel where the dinner took place. And we had some more champagne and chocolate and talked a little bit more in a cosy environment.

Well the reason I brought up my friend’s wedding is because that same night, long after the dinner ended, it triggered thoughts in my head on what my ideal wedding ceremony would be like and what marriage meant to me. I realised that throughout my friend's wedding dinmner, amidst the friendly chatter and warm smiles, I was consciously observing each event as they unfold.

Why is it a risk to go into matrimony? And why is the bride’s aunt so protective of the bride? The bride has a job and is self-sufficient and had been staying on her own for many years before the wedding. These thoughts keep running through my mind.

The idea of marriage brings about different feelings for different people. To a person who is getting married the second time round, the thought may be, “Will it work this time?” To a concerned relative of the bride no matter how capable the bride is in looking after her self prior to the marriage, the bride suddenly becomes the little woman who is at the mercy of her husband. I’ve witnessed this mysterious phenomenon numerous times at other weddings. This is 2008, a woman who has a career, who is no shrinking violet, who has high self-esteem and speaks up for herself will continue to be so after marriage. These attributes do not suddenly dissapear when she gets married.

And why does main stream society continue thinking that it is the man's role to propose marriage. It is time we question belief systems that no longer serve both genders or take away a person's power. Both men and women are equal partners in a marriage. Both take personal responsibility in their roles in a marriage. If you wish to increase your personal power in a relationship take more responsibility for that relationship. So women, if you are single, I encourage you to take back your power. Let us drop this gender mentality. It has served us by separating us. If you are ready for marriage be the one reaching out to your partner with your proposal of marriage. By taking this challenge of liberating ourselves it enables us to thrive in our freedom. And have faith that the result will be extraordinary.

And let us review the traditional marriage vows. Do they hold realistic promises that any husband and wife can keep? Many people would have a hard time staying true to them or living up to them. Then why not create your own vows? Make promises that you can keep and are from your hearts. I invite couples who are planning on getting married, to do this as it is the most wonderful way to begin a life together. Be true to yourself and be true to each other. As a start, you may want to review the Marriage Statements made by Neale Donald Walsch, the author of Conversations with God, and his wife Nancy Fleming-Walsch. Till this day many newly weds turn to the Walsch’s Marriage Statements for inspiration.

And let us examine what a marriage is not about - gaining security, owning or possessing, controlling or restricting, demanding or expecting, manipulating, hoping what you want in life will be supplied by the other, finding your other half to make you complete, finding someone to give you love. To me, a marriage is about knowing that everything you need in life – love, support, wisdom, insight, power, knowledge, understanding, nurturing, respect, compassion, strength – are already within you and you hope to give these gifts to the other. And in doing so, you create even greater abundance. And marriage is a wonderful opportunity for you to discover more about yourself. This, I feel, is what marriage is about.

The reason that most marriages do not last is because people are looking outside themselves for the love and acceptance that could only come from within themselves. And, moreover, it is only possible to love another to the degree that one loves one’s self. So love yourself first. Fill your inner well with love and acceptance till it overflows and only then you are ready to love another. For it is only through the act of giving love that you set up the opportunity for yourself to receive love. And the love will be so complete, you will find the fulfilment you are seeking.

And why is it that people avoid talking about divorce when marriage and divorce are two sides of the same coin. Marriage is not a guarantee. Do not confuse the length of your relationship with its quality. When divorce is inevitable it is preferable for both parties to do it with integrity. Do it in a way where you offer friendship. Do it with wisdom and maturity. Offer your hand in friendship. And learn to forgive – forgive yourself and forgive the other person.

And no one outside the marriage has the right to pressure you to remain in a marriage. Do not feel guilty if the marriage cannot be saved and you decide to part ways. Guilt is the most useless human emotion. It has a very negative point of perception. And a 'failed' marriage does not make you a failure. It serves a purpose - it makes you wiser. We learn and grow from all our relationships. And every ending is a new beginning. Let this be your point of perception.

As for me? My well is overflowing. And I have much love to give.
My wedding? It takes place one summer day in June. The venue - a lush country garden overlooking the ocean. The pounding of the gentle waves serves as the orchestra and nature creates the backdrop. My favourite people are present to witness this sacred ceremony. Their children and their family pets are invited. Yes, it is a family affair, as it should be. The best part of the wedding? It’s when I see the brilliant smile on my new husband's face and the love in his eyes as he says his wedding vows. And a tear rolls down my cheek. That’s when I know that my heart is singing and anything is possible. I am home.
